VEXED

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Let the peace of God rule your hearts. Let the peace of God guard your hearts! That although there may be trouble we face in this world, our soul is not to be troubled. Our soul is not to be distressed. Perplexed but not in despair. Persecuted but not forsaken. Cast down but not destroyed. But yet, why are many distressed? In despair? Feeling forsaken? Destroyed? When we’re not called to any of that! Many think what they are feeling is perplexed and troubled like this scripture says, but they are actually vexed! Because although there may be trouble all around, our soul is not to be distressed or dismayed! We cannot say we are depressed because God is allowing it! The fact that you are depressed shows that you have let the devil vex your soul!

Letting the devil trouble your souls through doors, gates, and windows! Weighed down, depressed, burdened, confused, under witchcraft, consumed by lust, arbitrated by the devil, consumed with jealousy, or filled with fear! Constantly afflicted and oppressed! Beloved, if this is you, you are vexed! It’s not God, it’s satan!

Who have you been around? What have you been listening to? What lies have you been entertaining? What sin have you been partaking in? What strange voice has been speaking? What false imagination have you been agreeing with? What thought have you not been casting down!? This is the thing that has been vexing your soul!

This is why we must think on things above, things that are lovely, pure, and of good report! The devil always comes with fear, resentment, lust, envyings, jealousy, and strife. This is what the enemy stirs up when he comes, when he speaks to us, when he shows us things, and when he plants thoughts. When it’s the enemy, it’s your flesh. When it’s God, it’s your spirit. The enemy stirs up the flesh; God stirs up your spirit. When the enemy speaks, its a morsel of meat for your flesh. When God speaks, it’s daily bread for your spirit!

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:19-26

When God speaks, He doesn’t cause you to fear, the devil does that. When God speaks, He does not speak to make you jealous. Only the devil does that. When God speaks, He doesn’t make you want to sin, the devil does that. The works of the flesh are made manifest when the devil speaks and plants seeds. When leviathan twists things, it births these fruits, these works of the flesh. Sin starts in the heart before it is done with our hands.

I want clean hands and a pure heart. In the old, it was clean hands, but in the new, it’s clean hands and a pure heart. Even in the old days, the heart still mattered because out of your heart, your hands do. Out of the heart, your mouth speaks. Out of the heart comes the issues of life. Everything is a heart issue! Sin starts in the heart when the devil fascinates us. The devil didn’t force Eve to sin. He beguiled her first! The works of the flesh start within, for we are tempted with our own lust and desires and enticed! The works of the flesh are made manifest when the devil starts to vex our souls with these things, then we start to do these things. Cain, vexed with jealousy, killed his brother Abel! David, vexed with lust, sinned with Bathsheba!

God is the author and finisher of our faith; the devil is the author of confusion. Which author is writing your story? If it’s confusion and witchcraft, if it’s vexing your souls, it’s the devil! The mind of the Spirit is life and peace! The Kingdom of God is joy, peace, and righteousness in the Holy Spirit! God brings peace; the devil brings torment.

When it’s these three things, it’s the Holy Spirit! The fruits of the Spirit are listed above. They are His fruit, His character! When He comes unto you, it’s love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. When He comes unto you, peace He leaves with you because as you receive what He gives to you, you become at peace with Him! The peace that we’re looking for is not in the world, it is in Him! The more we are aligned with Him, the more peace we will have. He is the God of peace! And we need the peace of God!

We’re not at peace in our life because we haven’t let our peace be founded in Him and His Word! He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind! If whatever we hear or receive or think carries the spirit of fear, it is not Him. Period! Because again, He does not give us the spirit of fear. The devil speaks fear! God speaks faith. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Fear cometh by hearing and hearing by the words of the devil! The minute our soul fears, we need to check back what seed we just let be planted because it’s birthing fear in us and it’s vexing our soul.

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17

What is from above fills our heart with the good fruit that tastes satisfying to our spirit and brings peace to our soul, but the devil vexes us. The anointing breaks the yoke, but the devil puts on you a heavier yoke. Come unto to me all you who are heavy laden, I will give you rest. Sin is heavy, fear is heavy, lies are heavy for they vex us, they trouble us, they depress us, they oppress us, and cut off our souls from life! Not life of this world! Life, the power of God! Life in our bones that only comes from heaven and makes us vibrant and quickens our mortal bodies to no longer be dry bones but to be lively stones built up in the new man, clothed in the new man by the flesh of His Word! The Word of God filling our tendons as muscle to give us strength! Our souls need to be alive, not dead! But God, but the Truth sets us free! Lies bind us! Truth looses us! Lies vex us, truth frees us.

The devil loves to mix holy and profane things. He loves to deceive you by mixing a little truth with a bunch of lies! He is the twister. He twists truth and wraps it around a bunch of lies that he may confuse you! That he may vex you. Suck the life out of you, spiritually drain your soul. Separate your soul from the spirit of God within you. Cut you off from the life of God. When Adam got cut off from the garden, he was vexed, cut off from the glory garden and all because of the serpent, the deceiver, the one who likes to trick us into deception and disobedience.

If we look in 2 Samuel 13:1-15, we can see in verse 2 that Amnon was vexed. So consumed with lust, his soul was vexed but his soul was really vexed with the sin birthing in his soul, weighing down his soul. Then later to actually do the action of rape. In Judges 16:1-19, we see Samson before he let Delilah cut his hair and take his strength. We see in verse 16 that he was already vexed unto death! His soul was already being troubled, depressed, weighed down, heavy, and cast down, and the strength of his soul was already fading because of the entertainment he was giving Delilah. Then we see in the next couple verses that he gives into Delilah after the vexing and gives up the strength of his body, the anointing. God rested on the 7th day, 7 locks of hair representing God’s rest, joy, peace, and righteousness. This is what His rest for our weary souls looks like! But God is greater and able to set us free if we go back to the root of what has vexed us that we can break the chains! This is where humbleness and humility come in to defeat rebellion and resistance that we may receive healing for our weary vexed souls!

This is what the devil does: he captures our hearts and vexes our souls, and in the process, plunders the good fruit God gave us. Joy, peace, and righteousness. Sampson should have realized when his soul was vexed that he was in the devil’s den and headed for destruction! Amnon should have realized when his soul was vexed that he was letting the lust of his eyes lead him to sin!

When will we realize that when our soul is vexed, this is the enemy at work before the sudden destruction! Just like the Israelites were vexed by pharaoh as slaves, so are many vexed by the pharaoh of this world, satan. Making them slaves to sin! Slaves to religion, slaves to fear, bondage. Coming under the taskmaster of the lust of the flesh.

Vexed by sin, vexed by jealousy, vexed with bitterness, anger, resentment, unforgiveness, offense, and competition. Letting the devil twist the reality of their eyes, bringing their souls under his captivity making them captives. There’s no truth in satan, there’s no peace in him. The peace he gives us is false peace because his peace is dependent on people, places, and things, but God’s peace surpasses all understanding because it does not come from below, it comes from above when we’re right with God!

It’s time to get your peace back, your joy back, your 7 locks like Sampson back, your righteousness in the Holy Ghost, for this is the kingdom of God! You know the devil is robbing you from the kingdom when these 3 things: joy, peace, and righteousness, are being taken from you! Do not let him rob you! We’re not called to be vexed, we’re called to be free! That although we may be perplexed, troubled, persecuted, or cast down, on the inside were free! There may be trouble all around but you are to be free within. And although you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you shall fear no evil for the Lord your God is with you! For He did not give you the spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind!
