SIMPLICITY

Sometimes we leave behind the simplicity of just knowing Him – and Him crucified. And the power of His resurrection! Man can make us get stuck in this complex place. But it is simple.

2 Corinthians 1:1-14. Part of our inheritance is to be comforted by God. Once you get saved, this is the simplicity that we need to walk in.

Sometimes we get so caught up in doing that we forget the simplicity in God. His people perished for the lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). See. The big thing is that Pharisee-minded people use the scripture that says, “My children perish for the lack of knowledge.” I have been guilty and also used this phrase many, many times but now I am seeing a greater revelation. The word became flesh and is Spirit. As children of God, we don’t want to read the Word of God only and not understand. But it must be the knowledge of GOD, not information but revelation! The simplicity of knowing Him – the revelation of Jesus Christ. People go after all kinds of knowledge but not the knowledge of Him! They start complicating things and killing the simplicity. They get so caught up in knowing things of the Bible, and we leave the knowledge of Him behind.

People will perish for the lack of not knowing Jesus, not only knowing about Him, but Him. There is no salvation without knowing Him. He is and was and is to come. In Him, we breathe and move and have our beings. The Pharisees will complicate things and make you focus on things about Him, but not HIM.

Knowledge puffs up for a reason. That’s why religion puffs you up!

“Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believe.” Romans 10:1-4

What knowledge is GOD really speaking of?

Read Ephesians 4:1-15.

The more knowledge of things, the more pride is puffed up. Sometimes Satan plants people in the midst of the Bride to try to complicate things. They start leaving behind the knowledge of the Son of God. In the pages, we find Him, but also people are finding a lot of other things. So much of the letter without the relationship and intimacy with Him makes you move away from becoming like a child. It is the simplicity. Paul knew so much but He chose to know one thing: CHRIST! Your mind can shut the door on what you believe. The knowledge of God helps you not to be tossed to and fro. The full measure of Christ can be manifested when we go back to this simplicity. Doctrines that are not of Christ will complicate your life. We must grow up into all things!

Read 2 Peter 1. The knowledge of God has called us into virtue. Don’t get knowledge about Him but from Him. People who don’t know Him try to tell you about Him. But how much better it is for someone who knows Him to tell you of Him! Sometimes we have enough knowledge about Him and we start preaching about Him but never does one word come out of our mouth of Him.

God is calling us back to the simplicity of knowing Him! Not about Him, but of HIM! In Him there is revelation. Information comes from someone that knows about Him. When you get something from Him, words are full of life. Paul knew all the letter, but He sought the simplicity that goes beyond it.

Add to your virtue knowledge of HIM! Who is He? What is He doing? We direct people towards knowing about Him and not of HIM. Not towards the knowledge of the letter but of HIM. In simplicity, we can know Him, follow Him, and obey Him. The knowledge of the cross! We must seek it or we will get blinded by the complexity produced by men.

We may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ! Yes! Jesus is the Word made flesh. In the beginning was the Word. We are not at all coming against knowledge but coming against ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the Truth (2 Timothy 3:7). WHO IS HE! Information without activation can get us stuck. For we must know that the Bible’s main two things are for born again believers:

1) To know Him and the power of His resurrection.

2) To know who you are in Him and your new identity in Christ.

Read 2 Corinthians 11:1-15. Our minds can easily get corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Leaders pointing us back to the knowledge about something when God wants to point us to the knowledge of the person of Christ.

Another Jesus. Another spirit. Another gospel. This is the fruit of a complicated Christianity. Paul preached like he knew Him because he did. He was born from above, born again, He saw Him! Paul before his conversion had a lot of knowledge of the letter but no knowledge of Christ Jesus. So Paul preached knowledge but that knowing never gave life. Actually, it sought to take life from anyone that claimed Christianity.

People are making themselves ministers talking just about Him. In Christ, we should minister Christ, Christ in us ministering through us! Their end shall be according to their works. The knowledge of Him makes things happen: people get saved, delivered, and transformed. Paul considered himself to know nothing but Christ! The knowledge of Christ was His foundation. He had to put aside all that he thought he knew and make his foundation Christ because he was a man full of the knowledge of Judaism and the Torah. But He met the living Torah and realized all that he had known was to KNOW HIM.

Simplicity of having our eyes on Jesus. Simplicity of preaching the cross. We must go back to that place.

 Read Matthew 18: 1-5.

Simplicity of being in Him. Eating His flesh. Drinking His blood. Live for Him. Live by every Word that proceeds out of His mouth.

Jesus called the little child and the little child came. Today, this is not happening. Children have become very disobedient. Children have their own will. Children are ruling the household. We must become as a little child, like that one in Matthew 18! He called him and he came. He told us to go here, we went. We must become as a little child! Sometimes we have to see it before we believe it. We have lost the simplicity of a childlike faith. Trusting Him. He never gives us the wrong thing if we desire the right thing. That was the entire ministry of Jesus Christ – the kingdom of God. He preached it wherever He went and knowing He was the door to the kingdom and He is the kingdom of God.

If you ask for the knowledge of Christ Jesus and someone tries to give you something else, you won’t receive it because you know that it is not of God. You can’t receive anything from God if you don’t become like that child. If you are hungry, seeking God like a little child, the kingdom is yours! Joy, peace, righteousness! All yours if you just walk this path of simplicity. Pharisees will come and try to block your path. Complicating things. Questioning things all the time. Satan will target the childlike faith kids. We must be aware of His devices. He is cunning and he is a thief.

The greatest in the kingdom of God is the one that walks in simplicity, filled with the knowledge of Him! People will say, “You need to know this and that.” You must respond: “No. I need to know nothing but Christ crucified.” You must be converted like that little child or you won’t enter the kingdom of God! Father, let all the things that are separating us from the simplicity of the knowledge of you be rooted out of us. It is easier to follow Him if we are in Him! Give us a new heart to simply love you. We cannot put the knowledge of knowing about you before the knowledge of knowing you! We must love God – not love all about God. God is humbling us down and provoking us to become like a little child. Simplicity is the key. It is as simple as that. Shane Roessiger
