ENGAGE THE ENGAGEMENT By Joe Pinto
“For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called.”
Engage the Engagement! We have been engaged so that we can engage with Him daily. Many see this in the Bible and they think it’s a marriage like the world. Though the bride, the body of believers, are married to Him in a much deeper way.
1 Corinthians 6:1
“But he who is joined to The Lord is now become one Spirit with Him”
The World sees marriage as signing a paper and two living in the same house, owning the same stuff, having the same bills. God sees a marriage of a man and woman as two people who are one flesh, one person, one in mind, one in heart, affected by each other. And the woman’s body shall belong to the man and the man’s body to the woman.
Now we have our marriage with God. This is the deepest marriage of all. Now He says that we are one spirit! A man and a woman are one flesh, exchanging bodies. God and His people are one spirit. This is a big difference. Now we are exchanging spirits with the creator. The regular marriage shares a physical bond; the marriage with God is a bond of our insides for His insides. The Bible says the spirit man is the core of a person’s being. The Spirit of God is the core of His being. And this marriage is the exchange of the deepest part of ourselves where our inner emotions, thoughts, feelings, pursuits, desires and so on, all get tied to His.
Hosea 2:16
“And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’”
Religion is serving a God they call Jesus. This Jesus is one who just gives them what their flesh wants. Delivers them when they are sick. Helps them out of trouble. Gives them material things. Religion is prosperity focused, and it never lays down its WHOLE life. It shows you how God can serve you, but never how you can serve Him. It’s you focused, and that’s why their God is not really Jesus. It’s Baal!
Baal, the God of manna!
Baal, the God of prosperity and riches!
Baal, the God that gives me what I want, when I want it, and how I want it.
Jesus died so that He could have a new people so that He could have a people that wouldn’t serve Him like the world serves their God. He died for a people that would serve Him in Spirit and in Truth, building His Kingdom instead of their own.
2 Timothy 1:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Now that we have established that we are in an engagement, in a marriage, we must realize that God is not up there anymore. He is within. He is one with your spirit. God is Heaven and to be in Heaven is to be with Him. So if He’s within us, all of the Kingdom of Heaven is within us.
"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”
Religion wars, pours, releases, and does everything from a place as if God was distant. They preach and teach as if God is not near and comes down once in a while. This is what religion teaches, separation from God. I tell you this, separation is an illusion. It’s what the enemy wants, but God is near. He filled you with His Holy Ghost so that He can be near. The River is here. We just have to learn how to flow with it!
To the reader, from your innermost being shall rivers of living water flow! And this river is called the Spirit of God. This is who we are engaged to, and this is who we must start engaging!
Not from a place of distance, but from a place inside of us. From our innermost being. This is where we need to do everything from. God has given us a new spirit so that we can flow from this place.
Religion is trying to connect with God in the soul realm, and they are hearing strange voices. And because they try to connect with the Holy Spirit through their soul, that’s why they feel distant. You can’t feel the heavenly feelings that your spirit can with your soul. Your soul was meant to connect with soulish things and your spirit with spiritual things. If we want to connect with God who IS spirit, we need to live from our spirit.
When we live through our spirit man, where the water flows, our being starts to be affected by heaven from the inside. Then our soul starts to touch heaven, and then our body feels it, knows it, and touches it. Religion tries to connect with God from the outside in, from the body to the spirit. It must be from your inner man, it says it right there in scripture. From your inner man, the spirit of God shall flow!
This is essential to know for our walk. There’s two sides warring in us, but our spirit is on the right side. It’s created to live with God! Our body is flesh!
One of the problems most of us run into is that we start to sense things in the spirit, and because we don’t understand what that is, we get confused. Then we start bringing our spiritual senses and feelings to our carnal mind. Then we interpret what we were getting in the spirit into carnality. And in this way, carnality wars against the Spirit by taking and twisting God’s word, gifts, and feelings that He has given you.
We need to submit all!
We think we know how to submit. We say all the time how we want to submit, or we say, “I submit Lord.” And the job never gets done or you never submit consistently. You always end up running off and doing your own thing, crying to Him and repenting later. God says it’s time to GROW!
It’s time to learn how to submit, to where it’s no longer talk. To where it’s no longer a good thought. We need to make our submission reality. Submission cannot be done in the flesh, but it starts in the heart.
When we get thoughts, feelings, senses, things that happen, emotions, etc., we need to submit them to God! A lot of our problem is, we get a thought or a feeling and we feed it to our flesh and carnality. All of a sudden, sin is lying at the door. Satan is the twister. He comes in and turns your thoughts to evil and idolatry. He takes your emotions and gets you to do the wrong things with them. So our best weapon to have power over the mind, body, and soul is submission
2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
Bringing every thought to the obedience of Christ… Bring every emotion, every mindset, every feeling, bringing it to the feet of Jesus and saying, “Is this pleasing to you, Father?” O great interpreter, what is this? What am I feeling? What am I doing? What do I say? Why am I thinking this way? How am I supposed to think? Submitting everything to Him and saying, “God, have the power over my thoughts, my mind, and my emotions as you will. It’s all yours, Lord, I give it to you. My whole life is yours.” This is what’s it’s like to give your life. "God, you tell me what is what in my life, and I will listen and I will follow."
Your carnal mind wants you to feed it your emotions, thoughts, and heart so that it can twist it all. This is how your flesh gains strength and traction in your life, how the strong man is built up to take over the soul. Satan wants everything going on within you to be interpreted through a dirty filter. God is a clean pure filter, and we must filter everything through Him that goes in our heart and mind so that it will come out pure like Him.
When we don’t submit all, we’ve given whatever it is we haven’t submitted to the devil. And there lies his foothold in our life.
Submit all and you will never fall!
1 Corinthians 8-11
“...for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."
One and the same Spirit works all these things, as HE WILLS. Every movement of the Spirit in the body is released as HE WILLS. In religion, it’s as you will. This is Satan’s lie so that he separates us from God. That he would get us to do things in our own accord.
The spirit that is within you activated every single work that Jesus did; produced every single word that Jesus gave; produced and produces all the gifts and callings. And if you know the power and level of authority that Jesus moved in, you will realize how urgent it is that we must engage Him. If we don’t, we will do everything without power. Everything we do must be through the bridegroom. A bride does nothing without her groom. A body does nothing without His Spirit!
The Bible says to stir up the gift inside of you. What is that gift? The Holy Spirit, the Spirit within. We need to stir it up. We need to pull on Him with desire. We need to continue engaging that spirit! It is our helper, is our defender, it is God!
People who try to engage God without His Spirit are like light without a light bulb. Religion tries to bring God down, but the sons of God are letting God out, from within themselves.
Luke 8:43-48 King James Version (KJV)
“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.”
Many people were surrounding Jesus. Many people were touching Jesus. It was the multitude. There were thousands, and Peter thought Jesus was crazy. Are you serious, Jesus? Many are touching you! What do you mean someone touched you?
He means someone touched His innermost being inside of Him and pulled on Heaven from within Him!
This is what many do, as they are touching Jesus, they are kissing Him, but they are doing it in the flesh. Trying to pull heaven out of His name. Trying to use a picture of Him to draw power. Trying to say more and more words that drop to the ground. You see this woman who may have pulled His garment, but the thing nobody saw was that her insides pulled on His.
She was engaging from within, with her heart, with her spirit. Not with her lips and her body. With her insides! And heaven gave authority to her for a release of power. We need to do things in the right realm. We need to do things from the right place inside of us. Open up your heart, follow your spirit. And watch the living water pour out of you. Watch heaven give authority to you.
I had a dream one time, and I was in a Catholic church. There was a principality in the air, and I was commanding it in the name of Jesus to come down, to be loosed. And God said, “You will never be able to pull that down without my authority.” And then I thought to myself, “God, I thought I had the authority?”
The Catholic Church represents religion. Religion teaches you that you have the authority, you have the power, and you have the dominion. Even though you do, it’s really His power, authority, and dominion, and we’re just flowing in it. Though when we try to command that in our own will and timing, there’s no anointing to break the yoke. We need to do things by His Spirit and we will see principalities fall. Doing things by His Spirit is the Keys to the Kingdom! And to do things by His Spirit is to do things with the bridegroom. We must do things through our marriage with Him.
Thank you, Father, that we are engaged to you, that we are one with you, that we can engage you through that engagement, through that marriage that we have. Let everything we do be out of that deep relationship we have. Religion does everything without God but in the name of God. Let the Sons of God engage this life through their engagement!
