One thing God is showing me about man pleasing and it’s really deep because we turn ourselves into our own puppets: Man pleasing is rooted out of pride. It’s about you and being accepted, being liked and being received. But God always looks at the heart! That’s why He hates man pleasing because the man you are trying to please is yourself!
Acceptance is a really deep well! Most times, you are accepted 100 percent. You don’t know it! This a fine line. What really is the truth of the matter is that you are being nice for personal acceptance and gain or the cross. See, the big thing people do not understand is that it’s all about the heart and very little about the man!
The thing is they say they are not going to do something because “I’m not man pleasing any more!” That’s not the issue. What you are doing is why you are doing it. That’s what God wants to change. Because what you are doing is good. God says I want you to do it but do it for Me, not for you! Deep calls.
When we start to turn on man or change our ways or stop being nice and pleasing because God reveals the depth of our intentions to please the humanity in and around us, in our quest to not do what we have been doing, we can end up not pleasing man or even God in our stoic attempts. So what I’m saying is that initially He used those things, our insecurities and our rejections, to train us to do what we are doing. Now He wants us to do it in the Spirit and in Truth! But never what we have been doing has been the issue. It’s been the why! God says now do it with the cross. The greater the love, the greater the cost. The greater the cost, the greater the loss. Lose your life to gain it. This baffles the world. It is so anti-world and so Christ that it just irritates even thoughts to them who hate the cross.
See, God is wanting the root exchange not the fruit exchange. What you do is for God, not for you! See, this is a form of pride! When we do things for our own reasons, it’s just flat pride masquerading as one sold out to serve, love, and live for Christ. But those who see by the Spirit know the difference and smell it, see it, and just know it! The one man pleasing works to show their love. The person God pleasing loves and we see it by their works as in the book of James. See, it’s not what we are doing that needs to change; it’s our hearts.
What happens is some learn about man pleasing then try radically to change in their God revealing stage. But sometimes God gets us started on our selfish motives to fuel us to start! But without the cross, we can become religious and dead. But on the contrary, we probably do even more when doing it in purity and in truth. Just our initiatives change and the intentions are no longer personal but eternal. What we do is for the advancement of the kingdom and of one another, not our usual self. The fact of the matter is when you are not pleased with the man, you will stop your good works and deeds and serving and say in your heart, “I’m not doing this because I’m not pleasing man.” When pleasing man is not pleasing to you because of your heart, it’s really God you’re not pleasing, and you are now in the flesh.
Then you shut down time and time again. This is where the rubber meets the road. We think we can outsmart God, but what He does is reveal to us and then we hide. Pride hides when God reveals the heart because that’s what pride is about — you! Love is about another. See, this is where we see what we do and stop doing what we are doing, like being nice, having kind words, doing kind acts, serving, blessing, encouraging, giving, and loving righteously. Do we stop this? Of course not. We just do it unto the Lord and not unto you.
Man pleasers will not be steady in their walk because of pride! Let us do all for the Glory of God, not for the glory of man. Let us do to be seen of God and see the heart of man and love without any selfish motives. I tell you the truth, pleasing God is so pleasing to man, and if you learn to please God you will be the sweetest incense to both God and man. What you are looking for in your quest will be accomplished here in this age and in the age to come eternally true. Stop pulling your own strings, and let the cords of heaven move in His direction every time.
